There was a kings palace in a solitary island
For the prisoner of the royal line.
Long ago a prince was banished there
By the order of his king-father
Prince forbade the king going in immortal war.
The prince was staying alone in the palace hall
His company was some painting in the wall
Of them a beautiful picture of a young girl.
He saw the picture and felt all alive-
Prince believed souls never die.
He felt he is not alone in this land-
Till here the trees, birds, and the free wind.
He went to the forest hearing birds sound.
And used to collect fruits from island forest
And saw the beautiful sun rising in the east.
In the night he noticed thousand of glowworm -
Entered in the palace to lighten the room.
He looked at the picture of that girl often
And desired her presence in imagination.
He tried to draw her picture but in vain.
He gave all his efforts with a deep concentration
At last he saw an exact picture has been drawn.
On that night prince suddenly saw a light
In his room and following the light
A girl appeared before him with various foods
The girl walked to the prince and said
-take this food and eat with contented mind.
Who are ye the divine girl and who sent thee?
I am kanak, nobody sent me said she.
The prince began to talk with the cute girl
And ate all the delicious food with glance.
Kanak accompanied prince all the night -
She said before the day came bright
I am going now, every night I shall come
With food, wait for me, be cheerful and calm.
Kanak used to come every night
Fed the prince stayed up to last night and went.
After a year a ship reached in the island
Some ministers reached to the prince.
They gave him sorrowful news -
That the king has died in a great war.
They offered the prince the kingdom
But the prince denied and said-
That his younger brother
Is experienced enough and he will be the king.
So the ministers returned to the country.
The prince passed his life with island’s nature
And a sincere love of his dear girl kanak.
